Mozilla Firefox 4 beta unveils new interface

The new major version of the browser interface simplifies and introduces better support for HTML5 and a new extension manager.

Next Firefox is on track. One week after Pre - beta, the first public beta of Firefox 4 is downloadable from mozilla.com (in versions Windows, Mac and Linux).

First change: the appearance of the browser. The interface of this beta version of Windows introduced the placement of the tabs at the top of window, the button for "Firefox" to replace the menu and the disappearance of the title bar system (only for Windows Vista and 7).

HTML5 and new manager add-ons

On the functional side, Firefox 4 also improves support for HTML5 by the addition of HD video, the arrival of WebSocket (for applications consuming bandwidth), the introduction of WebGL (ex Canvas 3D) for 3D rendering and storing data locally for offline access to webapps like Gmail or Google Docs.

A new add-ons manager (extensions, themes and plugins) makes its appearance. It now opens in a tab rather than classical in a separate window.

Expected as the management accounts (webmail, social networking...) directly in the browser rather than on-line interface also makes its entrance.

Recall that integrates FF4 3.6.4 as a new system of protection against crashes of plug-ins that are isolated from the rest of the process. 

The next beta should provide themes for Mac and Linux, the synchronization settings ( bookmarks, history, tabs open ...), speed improved and new privacy controls, including information on which they are entitled to access Web sites. 

The final version of Firefox 4 is expected in late 2010 or early 2011.
